Ever since I was little I've wanted to witness a car accident without being involved in it. This is to say that when I was little I had this morbid little curiosity for it, and then went for years without thinking about it, and thus never formally forewent the desire.
Well friday last it happened, and it was so anticlimactic that I forgot to blog about it until just now.
Night had fallen, and I was heading home amid the traffic. It was raining. I stopped at a light and heard a thwump behind me. I looked in the mirror and saw the Audi behind me and the other car behind it turn on their blinkers. The Audi had been rear-ended. The light changed and I went my merry way, glad I wasn't the one who had to deal with bureaucracy in the rain.

My great-aunt has just died. Her name was Maria Fernanda Mota Ferreira, and she was from Arcos de Valdevez. After a life of kindness and certain difficulties, her heart gave out at eleven minutes to nine this morning, twenty or twenty-one years (the person who told me was not certain) and one day after the death of her sister. She will be dearly missed.
